House, Senate apart on spending to battle citrus greening, pests while raises sought for firefighters

The House and Senate remain apart on several agricultural spending issues with conference committees expected to begin meeting in the next two weeks.

Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam announced Friday the state will receive $5.4 million under the federal farm bill to battle pests including the giant African land snail and the citrus greening disease.
