Policy Note: Voting

last update Sept. 2, 2014: Elections in Florida became a source of intense scrutiny after the infamous 2000 Bush v. Gore controversy, and the Sunshine State has given political observers plenty to follow since. A controversial plan to shed ineligible voters from Florida's rolls resulted in a number of court cases, public debates and accusations of misconduct. Additionally, a lawsuit filed after the adoption of new congressional maps following the 2012 redistricting process resulted in a landmark decision from Circuit Court Judge Terry Lewis  declaring the Legislature's reapportionment plan for two districts unconstitutional under the 2010 "Fair Districts" Amendment.
