DEP says prospects are good for $40 million in land sales to benefit conservation

Brian and Michelle Jones of Naples say the state and Hendry County would benefit by accepting their offer of $3.7 million to buy a former state prison.

The Joneses and their Altair Training Solutions want to buy the former Hendry Correctional Institution and 1,100 acres of surrounding land. They would use the property for a military training center.
