Lack of oysters has led the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to close Apalachicola Bay to weekend oyster harvesting starting Saturday.

State officials have blamed drought and lack of water flowing from Alabama and Georgia in the Chattahoochee and Flint rivers for causing a crash in the bay's oyster population beginning in the summer of 2012.
