DEP trims list of land-sale candidates but environmentalists still concerned

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection this week removed nearly 10 percent of the acreage from a list of possible state conservation lands that could be proposed for sale.

An initial list of 5,331 acres released this past week created an outcry from various environmental groups and residents living near the areas. A revised list posted on a DEP website Thursday removed 474 acres, including 49 acres of state forest land along Lake Talquin west of Tallahassee.
