$5 million in grants heading to Florida ports and shipping centers

Gov. Rick Scott's office announced Monday that four ports and shipping facilities are receiving grants totaling about $5 million from the Florida Department of Transportation.

From that $5 million, $2.5 million is going to the South Florida Logistics Center in Miami, $1.4 million to the Keystone ILC Terminal in Jacksonville, $900,000 to the Port of Panama City Intermodal Distribution Center and $175,000 to the Port Manatee Commerce Center.

According to the governor's press releases, the four grants will create or support 1,213 new jobs and help fund improvements to the facilities.

The grants fall under the FDOT's Intermodal Logistics Center Infrastructure Support Program and require 50 percent matching funds from applicants.
