Consumer confidence goes up for 4th consecutive month

Consumer confidence numbers rose for the fourth consecutive month, it was reported Tuesday, hitting 82 points and edging out the post-recession record set in May.

“The last time perception of current buying conditions reached this level was April of 2007,” said Chris McCarty, director of the University of Florida's Survey Research Center in the Bureau of Economic and Business Research. “That was the beginning of the collapse in the housing market.”
