Jobless rate ticks down to 6.2 percent; 34,000 jobs added in April

The number of total jobs in Florida rose by 34,000 last month, and the unemployment rate fell 0.1 percent to 6.2 percent, according to figures released Friday by the Department of Economic Opportunity.

The new jobs puts Florida’s job growth rate for the last 12 months at 3.3 percent, ahead of the national rate of 1.7 percent.
