Budget talks slow down as negotiators wrangle over remaining issues

House and Senate budget negotiators opted not to meet publicly Thursday night, likely pushing comprehensive talks over the remaining differences in the two chambers’ 2014-2015 fiscal year spending plans into the weekend.

Sen. Joe Negron, R-Stuart, chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, counted funding for the Indian River Lagoon & Lake Okeechobee and performance funding for universities among the major differences in the chambers' preferred budgets.
