A plan by the House to regulate the growing sober home industry in Florida passed Thursday afternoon with a nearly unanimous vote.
The bill, by Rep. Bill Hager, R-Boca Raton, would create a registry of sober houses that have been certified by the state Department of Children and Families to accept referrals from inpatient treatment facilities. To receive the certification, sober homes would undergo inspections and conduct background checks of its staff.
