Sen. Jeff Brandes’ bill attempting to encourage private insurance companies to offer flood coverage to homeowners passed through another Senate panel Thursday, but the measure has a longer journey to the Senate floor.
That’s because Sen. Jack Latvala, R-Clearwater, objected to an amendment rewriting much of SB 542, as well as the fact that it was being done in the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government instead of the committee dealing with insurance policy.
