House Democrats slam Scott budget; Republicans supportive but say no 'rubber stamp'

House lawmakers got their first in-depth look at Gov. Rick Scott’s $74.2 billion budget proposal Tuesday, and gubernatorial election-year politics played out.

Democrats picked at Scott proposals on health care, education and the environment and later declared most of them amount to campaign pandering that fall short of the funding needed. Rep. Mark Pafford, D-West Palm Beach, was miffed Scott staff members couldn’t provide the amount of people on waiting lists for a variety of health care programs to help the elderly or aid low-income seniors.
