Agriculture department proposes first set of wildlife 'best management' practices

State agriculture officials are proposing a first set of voluntary wildlife "best management" practices to help landowners avoid having to get permits for possible harm to state-protected species.

HB 7087, a Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services bill, directed the department and state wildlife officials to develop voluntary wildlife "best management" practices. The bill passed with support from the Plum Creek timber company, Audubon Florida and the Florida Land Council.
