A bill reworking eligibility and rates for state-backed Citizens Property Insurance Corp. cleared the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government on Tuesday by an 8-4 vote.
The vote cleared the way for SB 1770 to head to the full Senate Appropriations Committee, its last stop before hitting the floor, but the historical political divide over insurance flared up again as coastal lawmakers bemoaned provisions that would accelerate rate increases for Citizens customers.
