Four Tampa Bay area senators announced Thursday they are working on legislation dealing with nuclear cost recovery by utilities but not a repeal of the 2006 law.
Florida Power & Light Co. and Progress Energy Florida since 2008 have collected more than $1.4 billion for nuclear plant upgrades and proposed new plants, according to the Public Service Commission.
