The cost of clout around Tallahassee is going up.
With more lobbyists, more corporations with taxation and regulatory issues on the line, and a still-new governor intent on overhauling Florida's business climate, the briefcase brigade on the Capitol's fourth floor reported a total of $121 million in payments to legislative lobbyists for 2012. And that's rounded off, as compensation figures are reported in $10,000 increments up to $50,000 -- and amounts above that are recorded by actual amounts.
