The state prison system announced Thursday the signing of a $48 million contract to privatize health-care services for inmates in nine institutions across South Florida, affecting about 400 state job positions.
The contract with Wexford Health Sources will save taxpayers about $1 million a month, Department of Corrections spokeswoman Ann Howard said. She said letters are going out to affected employees, advising them how to arrange job interviews with Wexford.
