State gets 2nd Panhandle land deal as part of oil spill settlement

The Trust for Public Land has purchased and donated to the state a conservation easement on 2,336 acres in Walton County that is part of a larger private nature preserve.

A conservation easement prevents development of property while maintaining it in private ownership. The Walton County purchase is part of the 48,000-acre Nokuse Plantation owned by the M.C. Davis Trust and the associated E. O. Wilson Biophilia Center.
