Among the components of the ongoing "fiscal cliff" negotiations in Washington are the federal emergency unemployment benefits, which are set to expire on Dec. 29 for 2 million Americans -- including nearly 119,000 Floridians.
The Department of Economic Opportunity began sending out letters this month alerting those on extended benefits that if Congress can’t reach a deal that includes the extension of emergency benefits, they will stop receiving weekly claims.
