After Hurricane Sandy wreaked major damage to New York City and surrounding areas of the Northeast recently, the debate began about whether climate change played a role in the severity of the storm.
Environmentalists contend the widespread flooding and huge storm surge prove that global warming is causing a rise in sea level. They pointed out how vulnerable that makes one of the world's major cities. Florida, with its large populations of people enjoying coastal living, is at high risk as well, they said.
