Though badly outnumbered in the Florida Legislature, the Democratic Party declared victory Wednesday after picking up an additional two Senate and five House seats during Tuesday’s election.
“Obviously it’s (our) best night in Florida since I’ve been casting votes,” said Rod Smith, the 62-year-old chair of the Florida Democratic Party. “(It’s been) 30 years for a net gain in the Senate.”
