A task force looking at construction needs of public schools is finalizing a proposal for a half mill property tax increase with the money split between traditional schools and charter schools. The property tax hike is the Department of Education’s K-12 Public School Facility Task Force’s fallback position if the Legislature fails to identify a stable source of money to fund the capital outlay for charter schools.
