Positive employment outlook touted by Scott, but message clashes with Romney camp

Gov. Rick Scott's office Tuesday promoted a month-old survey of Florida employers revealing that 18 percent intend to increase their staff levels in the fourth quarter.

The survey, conducted by global employment services firm Manpower, showed 8 percent of Florida employers expect to cut back their payrolls, 72 percent expect to remain at their current levels, and another 2 percent were unsure of their hiring intentions. That left a 10 percent positive net employment outlook for Florida by Manpower’s calculations, up from 4 percent in the fourth quarter of 2011.
