The Florida Department of Environmental Protection says it wants to sell up to $50 million worth of state land in the coming fiscal year to buy more conservation land.
In its 2013-14 budget request, the department asks the legislature for no new revenue for the Florida Forever land acquisition program and said it will generate funds by selling land. An Audubon Florida representative said Tuesday the request raises deep concerns.
