Money becomes tight in state Senate races

The first campaign finance reports since the August primary show some Democratic Senate candidates pulling close to -- if not ahead of -- their Republican opponents in raising money for the November election. 

The reports were due Friday and although most candidates and committees will submit them digitally to the Division of Elections by the end of the day, state law permits them to be mailed if they are received with five days and have a Friday postmark.
