Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll apologized Thursday to a gay-rights organization that started a protest over her remark that black women like her don't have lesbian relationships.
Nadine Smith, head of Equality Florida in St. Petersburg, posted a note on Facebook saying she had a telephone conversation with Carroll. She attached a faxed letter of apology to her organization.
