An actuarial committee for Citizens Property Insurance Corp. will look at a plan on Thursday to raise rates for new customers nearly 30 percent statewide over existing premiums.
The board of governors for Citizens delayed a plan last month to uncap rates for new policies after outcry from consumer advocates and some lawmakers. They said the 10 percent cap on annual rate increases imposed three years ago could not be lifted without legislative approval.
