Health department reorganization now is law

Over the objections of Florida public health officials and environmentalists, Gov. Rick Scott on Friday signed HB 1263 into law.

The Department of Health “reorganization” bill streamlines the state’s largest health care agency and also eliminates a statewide septic tank mandate passed by the Florida Legislature in 2010.  Naples Republican Rep. Matt Hudson championed the reorganization bill.
