Before the 2012 legislative session began in January, one bill got more attention from lawmakers, the media and lobbyists than any other: destination casino resorts. The bill, HB 487/SB 710, would have brought three large casinos to South Florida. It initially promised to be a main theme that would define the session, but fizzled out halfway through the 60-day set when a House panel balked at the legislation.
