Gov. Rick Scott in Orlando on Tuesday signed SB 2156 creating a new Department of Economic Opportunity in a move that he said would help bring jobs to Florida.
The 838-page bill eliminates the Office of Tourism, Trade and Economic Development (OTTED) and portions of the Agency for Workforce Innovation and transfers their functions to the new department effective Oct. 1.
