Sansom used leftover campaign money to reimburse himself

Former House Speaker Ray Sansom dipped into leftover campaign funds to reimburse himself thousands of dollars -- and to pick up travel costs during his time in office -- a review of records show.

Sansom, who beat back criminal charges filed against him for his handling of the state budget, is now apparently the target of an investigation by the FBI and a federal grand jury. Last week federal agents asked for documents from both the Office of Legislative Services in Tallahassee and from the office of Rep. Matt Gaetz. Gaetz succeeded Sansom after the Destin Republican resigned his seat on the eve of the 2010 session.
